Theresa Alenghat Headshot

Dr Theresa Alenghat

We welcomed Dr. Theresa Alenghat, associate professor at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in June 2023.  Dr Alenghat's lab investigates diet, epithelial and immune cell homeostasis in the context of intestinal health and disease. The goals of the lab are to provide insight into molecular mechanisms, including epigenomic pathways, that mediate the host-microbiota relationship and to examine how this level of regulation affects innate immunity and chronic conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease.

Shruti Naik Headshot

Dr. Shruti Nai

In collaboration with the Drukier Institute and the Roberts Institute for Research in IBD, in Summer 2023 wehostedDr. Shruti Naik for a special seminar on campus. Dr Naik is assist

ant professor in the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology at NYU Langone Health. Dr Naik's lab studies the dynamic interactions between immune cells, epithelial cells, and microbes in barrier tissues that inferface with the environment such as the skin, lungs, and gut. We navigate these complex biological systems with an interdisciplinary approach that draws from the fields immunology, microbiology, stem cell and developmental biology, and cancer biology. As such, the lab focuses on 3 major areas of research: 1) inflammation, tissue regeneration and cancer, 2) host-microbe interactions, and 3) early in life immunity.
